Bracebridge Dinners®

Bracebridge Dinner & Dates
Celebrated annually since 1927, the Bracebridge Dinner transforms The Ahwahnee into a 17th century English manor for a feast of food, song and mirth. The inspiration for this yuletide ceremony was Washington Irving's Sketch Book that described Squire Bracebridge and English Christmas traditions of that period.

Read a first-hand account of one journalist's experience at Bracebridge, published in the Santa Barbara Independent.

The Bracebridge Dinner is an elegant and artistic four-hour pageant of classic carols, Renaissance rituals and entertainment of the Middle Ages. Over 100 players create the roles of the Squire and his family, their servants, the Lord of Misrule, minstrels and other performers. The Ahwahnee Dining Room serves as the Great Hall and stage for the festivities and is decked with magnificent wreaths, an elaborate Squire's table, large banners and traditional Yuletide decorations. The centerpiece of this revered event is a seven-course banquet of rich and wondrous dishes prepared by The Ahwahnee’s world-class culinary staff. Though each year the menu varies, a sample from years past can be viewed here.

Testimonials

“Today marks the day that my parents would be married for 69 years.  They married in 1940 and honeymooned in Yosemite staying in a cottage that was at the base of Yosemite Falls.  Our family’s love affair with Yosemite began with my mother’s parents coming to Yosemite for their honeymoon in 1913.  All my parent’s children have spent a part of their honeymoon in Yosemite as well, thanks to a gift from our grandmother.  Yosemite will forever be a place of grandeur, beauty and sweet memories for my family.  Though my father is not here to mark this special day in his life with my mother, we still remember that a beautiful young couple came to Yosemite 69 years ago to celebrate the beginning of their many devoted years together.  We are forever truly grateful for all that Yosemite means to our family.”
